What a Mortgage-Backed Loan is: it is a loan secured by a mortgage on a property, but without being limited to buying or building a home — it can be used, for example, to consolidate liabilities, obtain additional liquidity or finance works, including works to regularize the property's planning status. Unlike a mortgage taken out to buy a home, it does not necessarily benefit from the same conditions, and approval always depends on the appraisal of the property given as collateral — including its planning and documentation status.
Before you go ahead: a mortgage-backed loan increases the debt secured by your home — in the event of default, the property given as collateral may be enforced. Always review this decision, including term, rate and total cost, with your CrediSegur advisor before deciding.
